Lamar Scottie Band Awards

The Lamar Middle School Scottie Band programs have earned numerous awards in their distinguished history. Recent accolades include:

In addition to earning these awesome accomplishments, our young musicians have a lot of fun with frequent social events, lock-ins, football game performances, jazz band gigs, concerts, annual band trips, and the yearly band banquet!

Benefits of Band

Each spring, our 8th grade students reflect on their time in the Lamar Scottie Band during the spring banquet. Consistently, students say it is one of the most rewarding experiences of their middle school careers.

Being a member of the Lamar Scottie Band offers a wide array of opportunities and benefits, including development of social, communication, conflict resolution and musical skills, teamwork, giving and receiving constructive feedback, connecting with others through music, and collaborating through the creative process. Students utilize many skills in reading and playing music, and studies show musicians academically outperform non-musicians.

Above all, band is fun!
