In Texas, where UIL competition is a significant part of band culture, donations are especially critical for keeping programs competitive, inclusive, and well-resourced.
A GIANT thank you to our full year sponsors! These sponsors have contributed towards all three of our band booster events.
The Scottie band is always looking for partnerships with local businesses. We hope you will consider donating to support the band.
The Band Booster is a great way to get involved in your students’ musical education, meet other band families, and keep informed of upcoming band events and special functions, and we can’t do this without you. It takes the whole community of caregivers, friends, and family to make the Lamar Scottie Band successful and we need your help! Our hope is to have 100% participation from all band families through either your time, talent, or treasures.
Family and business sponsorships are the largest single fundraising source for the Lamar Band Booster. Our sponsorship goal for this year is $10,000 — would you or your business consider supporting the band by making a tax-deductible donation? These donations help cover lesson and trip scholarships, as well as pay for the band’s social gatherings.
Our biggest volunteer needs for the year are Chairs for the 3 events that the booster runs. If you are interested in helping organize one of these events, please let us know. These activities don’t work without family support, so please keep an eye out for volunteer requests from the Booster Club or the Band Directors, and check Charms or the band website calendar for specific events.

Established in 1953, The Lamar Scottie Band proudly features three advanced ensembles, including the Wind Ensemble and the Symphonic Winds, both of which have earned consistent Sweepstakes Awards through the University Interscholastic League (UIL) processes. These ensembles have demonstrated exceptional musicianship over the years and continue to uphold a standard of excellence. Both the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Winds have been selected to perform in Chicago, IL at the Midwest Clinic. After student’s complete one full year of beginner band, they can audition into our incredible Jazz Factory ensemble. The Jazz Factory performs in many wonderful venues throughout the Austin area including Jazz Festivals.
This success, however, is rooted in the foundational experiences of our students during their first year in the program. From the very beginning, we are committed to providing a high-quality music education that sets students on a path to success.
To support this, the Lamar Band offers private lesson instruction—one-on-one tutoring with professional musicians who specialize in each student’s specific instrument. Additionally, scholarships are available thanks to the generous support and hard work of our dedicated Band Boosters.
The directors of the Scottie Band believe that music education should be accessible to all students, regardless of financial circumstances. No student should be excluded from the opportunity to participate due to cost, and we are committed to helping remove those barriers.
Finally, no prior musical experience is required to join the Lamar Scottie Band. We will teach you everything you need to know to grow, succeed, and thrive in our program.
The Lamar Band Booster team is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting the band program, it’s directors and students.
Band boosters are involved with fundraising, chaperoning trips (to include football games and off-campus performances), assisting with concerts, and organizing various band student events. Band Boosters work closely with the Band Directors and meet monthly to discuss upcoming events and information.
